Mango About 1.5 million tons of mangoes are produced in West Africa annually representing about 4 per cent of global production according to the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development. Information & Communications Technology Information and Communication Technologies are transformational drivers for SMEs particularly and for the entire population in general. The use of mobile phones in West Africa has simplified and accelerated economic transactions, social interactions and access to information and knowledge. Onion Onion is essentially traded intra-regionally by ECOWAS Member States. From 2010 to 2018, the total production of onion in the region has increased by 25.5% reaching 90310 tonnes in 2018 (FAOSTAT, 2020). Pineapple In 2019, the region has generated more than $66, 856, 000 in the exports of fresh pineapple, only to the European Union. During the last decade, the production of pineapple has considerably increased, moving from 2, 438, 717 tonnes in 2010 to 2, 950, 214 tonnes, which also lead to a higher rate of exports especially to the European Union (FAOSTAT, 2020). About WACOMP The West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP), funded by the European Union, aims to support several selected value chains at the national and regional level so as to promote structural transformation and better access to regional and international markets while taking into account social and environmental concerns. The Programme was adopted under the 11th European Union Development Fund (EDF) Regional Indicative Programme for a total amount of €120m. The major objectives of the programme are to strengthen the competitiveness of West African countries and also enhance their integration into the regional and international trading system.
